Experience the Wales Airshow like never before as it returns this year with an exciting new format.
For the first time visitors to the country’s biggest free spectator event will be treated to a spectacular new evening programme alongside the daytime displays.
Wales Airshow: Afterburn is an exciting new addition that promises an electrifying series of sunset air displays.
Spectators will see dramatic pyrotechnic performances from the Otto Helicopter, thrilling aerial manoeuvres from the Firebirds complete with fireworks.
And, with thanks to Bassetts Motor Group, the unmistakable roar and glow of the Typhoon’s afterburners lighting up the bay will also be part of the show.
It’s all taking place on the first weekend of the school summer holidays, July 25 and 26, so everyone will get the chance to enjoy it.
Wales Airshow: Afterburn will build to a grand finale featuring a choreographed 200-drone display and fireworks.
Daytime displays will feature an outstanding mix of military precision and civilian aerobatic excellence, celebrating both the heritage and innovation of aviation.
Fan favourite aircraft like the RAF Tutor are set to return alongside displays not seen above Swansea Bay before, including the close-formation aerobatics civilian duo the Strikemaster Pair.
Aviation history will also come to life with the iconic Spitfire and Hurricane, both central to Britain’s air defence during the Second World War, alongside the Dakota, a legendary transport aircraft known for its role in major wartime operations, including D-Day.
Away from the skies, the Wales Airshow will once again offer a full family day out, with military ground displays, live music, a fun fair, market stalls, and a wide selection of food and drink creating a lively atmosphere along the seafront.
For those looking for a premium experience, Flight Deck, brought to you by Cardiff Wales Airport, will offer a dedicated viewing area and comfortable seating. New for this year, the Sky Lounge will provide a fully catered hospitality package.
Available for both daytime and evening sessions, booking will be essential with tickets going on sale in the coming weeks.
Tracey McNulty, Head of Cultural Services, Parks and Cleansing, said: “The Wales Airshow is a fantastic annual event and if you’ve never seen a night-flying show then you have to come because it’s going to be a real treat for all the family.
“The annual Wales Airshow has been a fixture of the Swansea skyscape for more than a decade and the extra time in the air is yet another reason to visit.”
Full details about ground attractions and flight times will be published closer to the date. This year the Red Arrows will not be attending because the team is flying in the United States as part of its 250th anniversary celebrations.
Tracey McNulty said: “It’s a shame the Red Arrows won’t be with us this time as their overseas commitments mean they won’t be in the UK for the whole of July.
“But we’re optimistic they’ll be back in Swansea next year because they’ve always told us they love the crowds here and the warmth of the city’s welcome.”
With free entry and something for all ages, the event continues to be a cornerstone of Swansea’s summer calendar.
