If you have any concerns during the event weekend, the Residents & Business Contact Line will operate on 01792 635428 on Saturday and Sunday, 10am – 6.30pm.

Major events of this type can cause disruption to normal daily activity. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation.

If you have any further questions, please email special.events@swansea.gov.uk or call 01792 635428 (during normal office hours).

Why are road closures being put in place on Friday when the event doesn’t start until Saturday?

Our number one priority is to keep the public safe and this closure will help us do that. The Airshow continues to grow and attract more visitors each year. It has outgrown the available space on the promenade for ground activities and the number of visitors.

By allowing ground event organisers to build their stands and attractions on the roadway there will be more space for more attractions and more room for people to move around. In order to build the stands and attractions on the road safely we need to close the road on Friday. To reduce the impact, we’ve only closed the Westbound lanes.

What if there is an emergency? Will emergency services be able to reach us, especially if there are road closures?

Emergency services will be on the event site throughout the weekend to provide support if and when required. Despite road closures being in place, all road closures will allow access for emergency services vehicles at all times.

Will I still be able to access Singleton Hospital?

Singleton Hospital will not be affected by road closures or the event site, and access to Singleton Hospital will be available as usual although via alternative access routes.

Will I still be able to access Swansea University?

Yes – head for Sketty then turn down Sketty Lane and turn left at the bottom.

Will I still be able to access Singleton Boating Lake / Pub on the Pond?

Yes – head for Sketty then turn down Sketty Lane and turn left at the bottom.

A lot of people are attending and there are road closures - How much traffic is expected?

As you would expect for an event of this size there will be a considerable amount of traffic in the area throughout the weekend. We are working hard to ensure any disruption is kept to a minimum, but please plan accordingly.

I’m planning on traveling to Mumbles/Gower, how will I get there?

Due to the road closure in place along Oystermouth Road, you may have to take alternative routes to access Mumbles / Gower.

I’m travelling out of Swansea, how will I be able to get to the M4?

Due to the road closure in place along Oystermouth Road, you may have to take alternative routes to access the M4.

But why are these roads being closed when such a big event is taking place?

The airshow weekend is one of the busiest of the year for people heading to Swansea, with over 200,000 attending in the previous few years. The increased safety and new security measures are being implemented due to the anticipated crowd size.

I live locally, what about public transport? Will my usual bus route be affected?

A number of bus routes including the 4, 4A, 8 and 14 will be affected, but First Cymru are running alternative routes. You can find full information on these changes on the First Cymru website

I live in Swansea Marina – how will the road closure affect me?

During the road closure you will still be able to gain access to the Marina via Dunvant Place. Roads to the East of Dunvant place will not be closed.

I’m travelling to Swansea from the west, what routes should I take?

We would suggest you leave the M4 motorway at Junction 47 and follow the A483 towards Swansea. Directional signs will take you to the event.

I’m travelling to Swansea from the east, what routes should I take?

We would suggest you leave the M4 motorway at Junction 42 and follow the A483 towards Swansea. Directional signs will take you to the event.

Won’t there be traffic after the event as well?

As with most major events, everyone tries to leave at the same time. Whilst the air displays finish at different times on both, we are hoping this will resulting in a staggered closing time which we hope will alleviate everyone leaving at the same time.  Please note we do expect people to leave later on the Saturday. To further reduce traffic after the event why not head into the City Centre and enjoy a meal while you wait for traffic to ease off?

How can I stay up to date with the latest travel and parking information on the day?
