Wales Airshow delivers a weekend of spectacular entertainment

July 26, 2026 By Chris Williams

Tens of thousands of visitors flocked to Swansea Bay as the Wales Airshow delivered another unforgettable weekend of world-class aerial displays and family-friendly entertainment.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Swansea Bay, the Swansea Council event featured an impressive programme of flying displays, showcasing breathtaking skill, precision and aerial artistry.

And while the mighty Red Arrows couldn’t put in an appearance this time due to their summer tour of the United States, the new Saturday night Afterburn show was a fitting accolade to our absent friends.

Andrew Williams, Cabinet Member for Development said Afterburn’s 200-drone display was a fitting way to celebrate the Red Arrows and amaze thousands of visitors.

He said: “The Wales Airshow once again proved why it is one of Swansea’s flagship events, attracting thousands of visitors to our beautiful seafront for a fantastic weekend of entertainment.

“The incredible aerial displays, family attractions, and vibrant atmosphere created a memorable experience for residents and visitors alike.

“Events like the Wales Airshow play an important role in supporting our local economy, showcasing Swansea as a premier visitor destination, and bringing communities together.

“I’d like to thank everyone who attended, as well as our sponsors, partners, performers, volunteers and council staff, whose hard work and dedication helped make this year’s event such a tremendous success.”

The new Afterburn show also featured a sunset display over Swansea Bay by the Firebirds Display Team, the RAF Typhoon and the Otto Helicopter, before a spectacular fireworks finale lit up the night sky alongside the drone display.

Daytime flying displays across the weekend included the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, this year featuring the iconic C47 Dakota, one of the most recognisable aircraft of the Second World War era.

Among the highlights making their Wales Airshow debut were the Starlings Aerobatic Team, whose dynamic formation flying wowed the crowds, the impressive AH-64E Apache helicopter and the Grumman Firecat water bomber, which drew one of the biggest reactions of the weekend with a dramatic water drop over Swansea Bay.

The unmistakeable silhouette of the Rolls-Royce Spitfire, daring displays from the AeroSuperBatics Wingwalkers and precision flying from the Firebirds Display Team were among the crowd favourites as Swansea Bay played host to a programme packed with speed, skill, history and spectacle. Visitors were also treated to appearances from the Jet Pitts, Gazelle Squadron and Navy Wings, helping create an unforgettable showcase in the skies above the bay.

Away from the flying action, the Wales Airshow once again offered far more than entertainment in the skies. Families explored the military village, enjoyed live performances and interactive attractions, browsed trade stands and sampled food and drink from across the event site. From aviation enthusiasts to families enjoying a day by the sea, there was something for visitors of all ages.

The Wales Airshow’s unique blend of aerial displays, seaside setting and festival atmosphere once again helped attract thousands of people to Swansea Bay, creating a memorable weekend for residents and visitors alike.

The success of the Wales Airshow would not have been possible without the support of attendees, sponsors, partners, exhibitors, performers and volunteers. Their contribution helped make the event another memorable celebration of aviation, community spirit and Swansea’s waterfront.
