{"id":8450,"date":"2019-06-07T08:31:15","date_gmt":"2019-06-07T08:31:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.walesnationalairshow.com\/?p=8450"},"modified":"2019-07-01T08:20:57","modified_gmt":"2019-07-01T08:20:57","slug":"2019-ground-displays-finalised","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.walesnationalairshow.com\/cy\/airshow-news\/2019-ground-displays-finalised\/","title":{"rendered":"2019 Ground Displays Finalised"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The ground displays promise to be exciting once again this\nyear for visitors to the Wales Airshow in Swansea next month<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Coinciding with the 50<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary celebrations\nof Swansea\u2019s city status and Armed Forces Day, the on the ground displays and activities\nwill be offering a range of static and interactive experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" src=\"http:\/\/www.walesnationalairshow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Chinook-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8451\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.walesnationalairshow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Chinook-2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.walesnationalairshow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Chinook-2-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption>Static Chinook <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to the extra space being generated by the temporary\nclosure of part of Oystermouth Road over the weekend, the footprint of the\nevent has been increased and displays will include static examples of the\nSpitfire and Hurricane planes that will be showing off their skills as part of\nthe Battle of Britain Memorial Flight &#8211; which this year is being sponsored by\nGreat Western Railway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Cabinet Member for Innovation,\nRegeneration and Tourism said: \u201cThe ground events are going to be great again\nthis year and admission, as always, is free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cApart from being able to watch the Red Arrows reach for the\nsky, visitors will also have the chance to try out a Red Arrows simulator as\nwell as a Typhoon <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nvisit of the ground-based Spitfire and Hurricane is a first for the Wales\nAirshow and they\u2019ll be accompanied by experts ready to tell the wartime stories\nof these two iconic Battle of Britain-winning planes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\naddition to these attractions there will be a funfair at the Civic Centre west\ncar park, military displays including a Replica Chinook and the Navy and\nMarines Virtual Reality Team. They\u2019ll be giving visitors the chance to\nexperience what it\u2019s like to stand on an aircraft carrier as planes take off as\nwell as an interactive boat-riding experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New\nfor this year is also the RAF Police Military Working Dogs display which will\ntake place twice a day on the beach area between The Secret Beach Bar &amp;\nKitchen (formerly\nthe 360 caf\u00e9) and the old slip bridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"http:\/\/www.walesnationalairshow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/dog-display.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8453\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.walesnationalairshow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/dog-display.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.walesnationalairshow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/dog-display-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption>RAF Military Dogs<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On the\nSaturday, the Airshow couples up with Armed Forces Day which &nbsp;is the annual UK celebration of the debt of\ngratitude the country owes to the men and women of the Army, Navy and RAF who\nhave served \u2013 and still serve \u2013 in combat zones around the world. The Armed\nforces ceremony will take place at the Cenotaph on Saturday July 6<sup>th<\/sup>\nfrom 10.30am<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cllr\nFrancis-Davies said:&nbsp;\u201cWe\u2019re expecting over\n250,000 people to enjoy the Wales Airshow, with local businesses due to benefit\nfrom millions of pounds worth of extra spending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He\nsaid: \u201cThe city centre will be very much open for business as normal and it\u2019s\nproximity to the Airshow means that people can have the best of both worlds,\njust a short stroll away. &nbsp;As with any\nmajor event of this scale, there will be a large volume of visitors coming into\nthe city over the weekend.
